The mission of the nonprofit La Porte Education Foundation is to enhance education by funding innovative and creative instructional projects for students and teachers in the La Porte Independent School District.

The Education Foundation funds two program areas that seek to enrich and maximize the quality of education in our school district and for our students. Through grant administration, funding is awarded to teachers to research and develop innovative programs and advance new teaching approaches. Grants in this area also can be awarded for staff initiatives to identify and address needs, challenges and concerns. The La Porte Education Foundation also administers funds from donors who earmark them for scholarships for La Porte High School graduating seniors.

The success of our initiatives depends greatly on the support of our local community. To this end, the Education Foundation sponsors several annual events and activities to not only raise funds for our programs, but to involve local businesses, organizations and individuals with our organization. Together, we are ensuring that today's and tomorrow's students have the highest quality educational experience.

We want to create an environment where people are connecting to God and others, as they pursue a life of growth and fulfillment in order to impact the world around them.

La Porte Independent School District covers 55 square miles in the cities of La Porte, Shoreacres, Morgan's Point, and portions of Deer Park.  Each of our 12 campuses, between 2015 and 2018, were either renovated or rebuilt entirely as a result of a $260 million bond approved by voters in 2014.  (This followed a districtwide project, approved by voters in 2005, that included a new operations center, and an Instructional Technology Center designed to withstand Category 4-5 storm.) Some of the 2015 highlights include the Bulldog Centre, a multipurpose facility – for athletics, fine arts and community events – that can accommodate about 2,300 people; the Pemberton Planetarium, one of of the most technologically advanced planetariums in its class; and facilities that were built or retrofitted to help ensure the safety and security of our 7,000-plus students and 1,100 staff members.

In addition to two National Blue Ribbon Schools, La Porte ISD is also the proud home of an Early Childhood Center that caters to the educational and nurturing needs of our youngest residents. Our performing and visual arts program consistently produces award winners in band, orchestra, choir, dance and acting. Speaking of acting, the La Porte High School musical is widely considered to be among the best productions in Texas – for more than half a century. We're also quite successful in our career programs, which have featured numerous state and national award winners in recent years.

Our Accelerated College Education program continues to grow in popularity, particularly because it enables students to graduate from La Porte High School while simultaneously earning an associate degree from San Jacinto College. The best part? Tuition and books are free for students. We also offer the AP Capstone program for academic research, and our list of AP Scholars grows every year.

In everything we do, La Porte ISD applies its mission of making students our number one priority. Some of those students have gone on to become professional actors or athletes, NCAA track champions (along with an Olympics gold medalist), local and state elected officials, teachers, medical professionals, entrepreneurs, and members of the U.S. Armed Forces.  Whatever your child's interest, odds are La Porte ISD has an offering.
